In 1992, TeamPraxis opened its doors for business as a billing service and practice management company with just six employees and a vision by President and CEO, Creighton Arita, to become the first physician Application Service Provider (ASP) in Hawaii. Not only was this achieved, but from our humble beginnings we have grown to become the largest Health Information Technology provider in the state for independent physicians. TeamPraxis has been a pioneer in connecting Hawaii’s physicians to other entities in the local healthcare community. Our investments include interfacing to labs, radiology services, pharmacies, insurers and banks, which has provided local physicians with the ability to view and order lab results, check insurance eligibility electronically, and e-prescribe with formulary integration via a true computer-to-computer connection.
Along the way, TeamPraxis developed its very own Practice Management (PM) system, ConnxtMD, drawing upon the expertise of our own billers to design a system tailored to meet Hawaii’s unique billing requirements. Developing our own PM system allows us the flexibility to better respond to our users’ needs and offer superior service to our clients by building in smart features that make work easier. For example, the PraxFlow™ Claims Editor detects claim errors before they are sent for reimbursement, thus reducing claim rejections and improving consistent cash flow.
In 2005, TeamPraxis began a strong partnership with Allscripts, the national industry leader in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems used by more than 160,000 physicians and 800 hospitals across the country. We solidified this partnership in 2007 by purchasing exclusive rights to sell Allscripts Enterprise EHR to local physicians, becoming the largest EHR vendor in Hawaii to sell an award-winning national product while still offering crucial local support. We have assembled the broadest and deepest team to support our EHR offering, encompassing 50 full time employees dedicated to implementation, training, ongoing systems maintenance and support. No other EHR vendor in Hawaii can match the support and expertise we offer our clients.
As part of our company’s long-term vision and commitment to local providers, we developed the Allscripts Clinical Quality Solution Powered by TeamPraxis (CQS) in 2007. This innovative and powerful tool automates clinical reporting and participation in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), E-Prescribing Incentive Program and other federal incentive programs, providing new streams of revenue to clients. Moreover, CQS empowers physicians to practice the highest possible quality of care by providing actionable clinical data at the point of care. Currently, CQS is used by more than 8,000 physicians in 50 premier medical groups in 25 states and Washington D.C., as well as by almost 200 physicians in the State of Hawaii.
Today, TeamPraxis has over 140 employees and our business continues to grow locally and across the nation.
